(South Deerfield, MA) There was a fire this morning at 97 North Main Street, South Deerfield. The South Deerfield Fire District was called to the scene around 9 am from a report of heavy smoke coming from the basement. The units on site were able to quickly contain the fire and they opened interior and exterior walls to check for hot spots. Currently, the cause of the fire is unknown.
The South Deerfield Fire District was assisted by the Deerfield Fire District, Whately Fire Department, Bernardston Fire Department, Sunderland Fire Department, South County EMS, Deerfield Police Department, and the Turners Falls Fire Department.
