BERNARDSTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Rapid progress is being made on the Bernardston Fire Department’s move to its new location at the former Raymond’s Repair on Northfield Road.

“A lot of work has been done,” said Bernardston Fire Chief Peter Shedd. “The Raymonds have moved a lot of equipment out already, and a lot of the demolition work inside the building has been done. We are ready for the electrician to come in and do the rough electrical work,” Shedd added.

Brian Keir of the Selectboard said a lot of credit should go to the Fire Station Building Committee as well as the Fire Department.

“Thanks for what those guys are doing,” said Keir. “If anybody doesn’t realize what’s going on in that building, both to acquire that building, and the work that is going on right now, the town is really going to appreciate this when you’re done.”

Once complete, the fire department will have nearly three times the space as what it has at the current station.
