Bernardston Fire To Help Cover Vernon While Volunteer Department Is Suspended

(Bernardston, MA) The Bernardston Fire Department will have extra work in their hands while the Vermont town of Vernon suspends their volunteer department and terminates the fire chief Todd Capen. The Vernon Selectboard intends to restructure the department, but in the meantime other area towns must cover the area. Bernardston Fire Chief Peter Shedd confirmed that Bernardston will be helping to cover Vernon but said Brattleboro will be taking up the main role. Guilford Fire is also assisting.
