GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — With no serious challengers, President Joe Biden easily won the Democratic presidential primary, but in a symbolic effort meant to show some voters’ frustration with Biden’s policies towards Israel and the Democratic party, many people decided to cast a vote for “no preference” instead Over 800 people voted “no preference” in the Northampton Democratic primary, accounting for just over 12% of the roughly 6,600 total votes cast, according to unofficial election results shared last night.

In Greenfield, “no preference” votes accounted for about 15% of the votes cast, according to unofficial data, and in Amherst it was about 11%. Senator Paul Mark told WHMP he sympathizes with people who feel unenthusiastic for their choice in candidates for the upcoming election.

Also in Greenfield’s unofficial election results, Trump beat out Nikki Haley for the Republican nomination by nearly 200 votes. The Greenfield Town Committee, which can be up to 35 members, looks like it will be dominated by democrats and they are expected to meet for an organizational meeting in early April.
