(Franklin County, MA) Today is Black Out Tuesday, a movement started by music execs Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang to peacefully protest the death of George Floyd. The movement is meant to be a pause of business to take a stand against the pervasive racism that plagues America.
#Theshowmustbepaused was created “in observance of the long standing racism and inequality that exists from the boardroom to the boulevard. We will not continue to conduct business as usual without regard for black lives,” the organizers said in a Twitter post.
Critiques have called for news outlets to continue coverage of the movement, so that raw footage of the movement can still be seen on social media platforms. Tuesday was selected to avoid the appearance of a long weekend.
