To provide some relief to those suffering with lost jobs or wages during the Covid-19 pandemic, Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield is participating in a grocery giveaway. Church Deacon John Leary says about 5000 pounds of food is being dropped off at the church this week. Volunteers will sort and bag the food, and it will be distributed on Saturday morning at Beacon Field in Greenfield to anyone who needs help with groceries, no questions asked. Leary says distribution will begin at 10:00 am and continue until the food is gone. Drivers simply need to pull up and bags will be placed in their vehicles. Contact is being held to a bare minimum, and volunteers at the distribution site will be taking all necessary health precautions. Leary says the plan is to hold this giveaway every Saturday until the Coronavirus crisis is over.
