NORTHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — No injuries resulted from the box truck accident on Gulf Road in Northfield Monday. At approximately 7 a.m., a box truck veered off the roadway and struck a telephone pole.
The operator allegedly gave different reasons for going off the roadway according to the Northfield police, potentially texting or an animal in the roadway, however tracks left by the tires did not indicate breaking or swerving to avoid an animal.
The box truck allegedly was unregistered and had license plates from another vehicle on it. Also noted by Northfield police, box trucks are not allowed on Gulf Road.
