GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — UPDATE: Two firefighters were temporarily trapped in a house fire on School Street in Greenfield Sunday morning. They were extricated and transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center before being released later that day. At least five residents were displaced as a result of the fire and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway by the Greenfield Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Major fire underway on School Street in Greenfield Sunday morning. Units arrived on scene at approximately 6:35 a.m. and a second alarm was struck to bring in additional support. At 7 a.m. the interior firefighters exited the building and fire suppression tactics switched to defensive mode.
