SHELBURNE FALLS, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — After the sole bid for the Bridge of Flowers repair project came in higher than expected, causing the project to pause while funding could be obtained, the Shelburne Falls Fire District has awarded the bid to Northern Construction Service, LLC of Palmer, MA.
The Executive Office of Economic Development amended their initial grant award of $2.3 million for the project to cover the construction costs with an additional $900,000 as the bid came in at approximately $3.2 million.
Construction is anticipated to begin sometime in June or July of this year and the fire district Board of Commissioners will continue to seek out funds for contingencies.
