AMHERST, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) –The search is on for a new head coach for UMass football. Don Brown was fired Monday with two games remaining on the schedule.
UMass is 2-8 on the season and 6-28 since Brown took over in 2022. Brown was 43-19 at UMass from 2004-2008, including an appearance in the FCS National Championship Game in ’06.
“I am extremely grateful to Coach Brown for returning to UMass three years ago to help us build back a program he once coached to a national title game,” athletic director Ryan Bamford said in a statement. “Don should have immense pride in the outstanding contributions he has made to advance Massachusetts football during his three stops in Amherst.”
Offensive coordinator Shane Montgomery will serve as the interim head coach. The Minutemen play at #8 Georgia Saturday afternoon.
