(Deerfield, MA) The Deerfield Fire District was called to a brush fire Sunday evening between Upper Road and the train tracks. When units arrived on scene, the fire was “threatening several boats and other yard equipment,” according to the Deerfield Fire District.

A homeowner saved the items while the crews worked to contain the fire to an estimated two acres across steep terrain. Preliminary investigation points to the possibility of a passing train causing the fire.

This second alarm fire required the assistance of Junior members of the Deerfield Fire District, South Deerfield, Greenfield, Conway, Bernardston, Turners Falls, Whately, Sunderland, Gill, and Montague Fire Departments, as well as the Deerfield Police Department, South County EMS, and Shelburne Control.
