MILLERS FALLS, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Sunday afternoon reports came in of an out-of-control brush fire on Federal Street in Millers Falls.

The Turners Falls Fire Department responded to the scene where they found a half-acre of burning vegetation. During the overhaul process, firefighters spotted a smoldering snag approximately 60 feet above the ground in the trees.

The fire was caused by the re-ignition of a cooking fire from Saturday evening. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials are asking the public to be cautious with all outdoor cooking and other ignition sources during this period of drought conditions.
