(Buckland, MA) Buckland will have a balanced budget for the coming fiscal year. Buckland’s Annual Town Election was held June 6th and residents were asked to vote on an override on the Proposition 2 1/2, to allow the town to raise real estate and personal property taxes to assess an additional $151,000 to fully fund their FY24 budget. At the election, voters showed their support for this objective with 171 votes in favor of the override and 62 against it.

Buckland taxpayers approved a budget containing a deficit at the Annual Town Meeting on May 6th, requiring additional property tax support beyond the limit of Proposition 2 1/2. Consequently, there will be a ballot question Buckland residents will vote on to approve an override for an additional $151,262 in real estate and personal property taxes. The Buckland Annual Town Election will be this Tuesday, June 6th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the second floor of the Buckland Town Hall.

(05.05.2023) The residents of Buckland will have to vote on a Proposition 2 1/2 override to fully fund their FY24 operating budget at the Annual Town Meeting on Saturday. The proposed budget currently stands at a $151,000 deficit as necessary expenses increase. The override would increase FY25 property taxes by $0.55 per $1000 of value. After the vote at the town meeting, it will go to the Annual Town Election in June to be decided on. If the Town votes to not pass the override, the Finance Committee has said they are prepared to submit a budget that will contain drastic cuts in order to present a balanced budget.
