GREAT BARRINGTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Butternut Fire in Great Barrington, Mass has brought crews from Bernardston, Buckland, Colrain, Conway, Gill, Greenfield, New Salem, Wendell, and Turners Falls have along with other local, state, and national agencies for another day battling the flames.
The Franklin County Wildland Hand Crew dug in the fire line Thursday while the rain fall provided some relief, but did not extinguish the fire.
Great Barrington Fire Department’s press conference on Thursday afternoon reiterated the impacts on air quality from the fire and smoke, which may linger for the next several days. As of the 4 p.m. press conference, no home or structures were in immediate danger, with overnight monitoring to continue.
