(Guilford, VT) The cause of the fire in Guilford Vermont yesterday, about two miles over the Massachusetts/Vermont border on Calvin Coolidge Memorial Highway, has been released. According to the Guilford Fire Department, a gas engine in a car exploded at Winchester Auto. The car apparently caught fire from a gas leak, which spread to the gas tank causing the explosion. The explosion engulfed the entire building in fire and knocked over a fence, according to the department. A home next to the auto shop caught fire as well but fire fighters were able to save the inside of the home. No firefighters were injured but one patient was transported to the hospital and one was evaluated at the scene of the fire.
