(Greenfield, MA) At the Greenfield School Committee meeting Wednesday, the committee voted on officer positions for the year in addition to other agenda items. Amy Proietti was elected for chair and Kathryn Martini for vice chair.

School committee member Glen Johnson-Mussad was also nominated for the position of chair. The vote for chair was initially tied and in the second round of voting to break the tie, Mayor Wedegartner changed her abstention from the first round to a vote for Proietti.

Martini was elected to be vice chair and Susan Eckstrom was voted in as secretary of the committee. Both Martini and Eckstrom were the sole nominations for their respective positions and received support from multiple members of the committee.

Prior to the organizational votes, the committee discussed the position of public comment in the agenda and whether or not it should come before the organizational vote. Some surrounding district committees hold public comment prior to voting on officer positions and a few do not. In the end, public comment was held off until later in the meeting.
