(Greenfield, MA) The Greenfield Police Department has announced some administrative changes that took place last week. Patrol Commander Lieutenant Burge retired, leaving a vacant position. This vacancy, along with an ongoing opening for sergeant, left an adverse impact on the department. In a recent press release, the negative impact of the vacancies was made clear.
“Having vacant positions in the supervisory ranks was having a great effect on our department especially during the pandemic,” said the department in the release.
The new positions are as follows:
Detective Sergeant McCarthy is appointed Provisional Lieutenant in charge of Patrol.
Lieutenant Gordan has accepted additional temporary duties managing the detective bureau.
Detective Clark has been appointed Provisional Sergeant.
Office Christopher Rowell has been appointed Provisional Sergeant.
Detective Christopher Green has filled the vacant position in the patrol division left by Officer Chris Rowell.
Officer Purinton accepted the position of Investigative Detective left by Detective Clark.
