(Charlemont, MA) The Alliance for Green Heat, a national program from the US Forest Service, has awarded local towns with grants to start up firewood banks, modeled after food banks to distribute firewood to homes in need. Charlemont received nearly $9,000 to open their wood bank and volunteers are working the Hawlemont School to set up wood bins and put systems in place to get the wood to those who need it.
