CHARLEMONT, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The federal Lifeline program gives eligible residents a $9.25 discount on either their home phone, internet service, or wireless phone plan and now the Town of Charlemont is increasing the subsidy with an additional $30 discount for those using their credit on their broadband subscription.

This discount comes over a year after Whip City Fiber announced the end of the federally funded Affordable Connectivity Program in April of 2024, which provided a $30 discount to low-income subscribers.
