SUNDERLAND, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A chimney fire broke out in a Sunderland residence over the weekend, sparking heating season advisories from local fire departments.
Sunderland and South Deerfield firefighters responded to reports of a chimney fire in the area of Bear Den Drive just after 9:30 p.m. Arriving crews were able to contain the fire to the chimney without further damage to the residence.
With heating season approaching, fire departments are reminding the public to have heating systems cleaned and inspected before being put to use.
