(Greenfield, MA) At Wednesday’s Greenfield City Council meeting, the council voted for a single tax rate to be applied to all classes of property – residential, personal, commercial, and industrial. The Board of Assessors recommended to Council the single rate over the split rate system as the community has a “relatively small commercial, industrial, and personal property tax base.”

The City Council also voted that no Residential Exemption nor Small Commercial Exemption be adopted for Fiscal Year 2023, which the Chief Assessor, Randy Austin, also recommended during his presentation at Wednesday’s meeting and at Ways & Means Tuesday evening. The current estimated tax rate for fiscal year 2023 is $19.65 per thousand valuation, down from $22.32 in FY2022 and $23.22 in FY 2021.
