GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield City Council vote made in July to authorize the city to sell the Hope Street parking lot will remain intact after approximately 2,254 residents voted ‘no’ on Question 1 in Tuesday’s election while only 1,657 voted ‘yes.’

The ballot question was brought forward by Franklin County Register of Probate John Merrigan and drove high voter turnout this election.

The city can now move forward with drafting a Request for Proposals and find a developer for the site. The site is expected to be used for housing or mixed-use development.
