(Greenfield, MA) Greenfield City Councilor Virginia DeSorgher announced she is running mayor in this year’s election. She is the first candidate to announce they are running in the race, as current Mayor Roxann Wedegartner has not yet announced if she will be seeking re-election.
DeSorgher was elected to City Council in 2019 and is currently the Ways and Means Committee Chair. She has served for several years on the Planning Board and has also sat on the Affordable Housing Committee, Commission on Disability Access, along with other local boards and committees. DeSorgher worked for 30 years as a nurse before retiring, although she has continued to work for the citizens of Greenfield.
She made the announcement for her candidacy in the mayoral election Thursday in the Greenfield Town Common.
