(Greenfield, MA) — A Greenfield city official is assuring the public that there is an ongoing, coordinated response addressing the issue of public urination and defecation in parks and the Olive Street parking garage. Communications Director Keith Barnicle at the mayor’s office says the Department of Public Works has established a protocol at the parking garage that includes routine cleaning and maintenance, and Public Safety has increased patrols in those areas. The city’s Health Department is working with local service providers in getting information out regarding the implications of improperly disposed human waste, available shelters, restrooms, cooling centers, and other pertinent services. The city’s operating budget is funding these measures, according to Barnicle.
