(GREENFIELD) — Normally at this time of year, schools “open their doors” to students and faculty. In this era of the Covid-19 pandemic, that is not happening at the Center School in Greenfield. The school kicked off the new academic year this week with entirely outdoor learning. The staff is utilizing tents, fields, and nearby woods to conduct classes.

The school administration notes that this new setup is actually not much of a departure from their norm. The school has historically used outdoor learning as a major part of the curriculum.

Even though classes are all being held outdoors, students and teachers are required to wear masks and must maintain physical distance while under the tents.
