(Greenfield, MA) – An ongoing environmental cleanup of Greenfield’s former Lunt Silversmith property is going as well as can be expected. That appears to be the consensus of the Greenfield Board of Health, which recently reviewed the ongoing remediation, which has been underway for several years with the assistance of state and federal officials. Not everyone shares the board’s view. A number of residents, including some city councilors, feel not enough has been done to properly remove the leftover pollutants–a process which must be completed before the city moves forward with plans to sell the property to an in-patient drug treatment center.
