COLRAIN, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Mohawk Trail Regional School District operating budget was voted down at the Colrain Town Meeting Tuesday evening in a 44 to 48 vote.

According to Superintendent Sheryl Stanton, the district agreement outlines that if the other district towns vote in favor of the budget, Colrain will have to pay their part, however if enough towns vote against it, there will be a revised budget and new vote.

Also, in the Town Meeting residents voted in favor of a resolution supporting Medicare For All. A statement supporters hope will be heard by the state as health insurance costs skyrocket. Medicare For All is a single payer healthcare plan, where costs would be significantly lower when profiting insurance companies are cut out of the equation.
