(Charlemont, MA) The Franklin County Regional Animal Control received a report of a raccoon acting unnaturally around a Charlemont resident and their dog. The raccoon was collected by animal control on Wednesday, August 24th in the area of Hicks Road and Maxwell Road and was tested for rabies. On August 26th, the Massachusetts State Laboratory confirmed the raccoon had rabies. The Franklin County Regional Animal Control urges residents to ensure their pets are up to date on their rabies vaccines and to not approach animals that are acting strange.
