(Conway, MA) Franklin County Regional Animal Control has confirmed a case of rabies. On Friday, March 24th a Conway resident who lives near the center of town contacted animal control when they noticed a raccoon who was acting “unnaturally.”
Animal control collected the raccoon and had it tested at the Massachusetts State Laboratory, who confirmed it was positive for rabies on March 28th.
The Franklin County Regional Animal Control is urging the public to make sure pets are up to date on there rabies vaccines and to not approach wildlife if it is acting sickly or aggressive, instead report the sighting by calling Shelburne Regional Communications Center at 413-625-8200.
