(Turners Falls, MA) — Yesterday was a busy one for first responders in the area of the Connecticut River. Early Thursday afternoon, emergency crews were called to investigate a report of someone walking on a patch of river ice just off Carlisle Avenue in Turners Falls. A drone search of the area revealed nothing and the report was determined to be unfounded. Later in the day, at around 3:15, police and fire officials were called to the Gill-Montague Bridge for a report of a despondent person threatening to jump. The bridge was shut down for two hours while state troopers successfully coaxed the person off the bridge.
