(Greenfield, MA) – April 3, 2020 – The city has announced that the number of confirmed COVID 19 cases has risen to 46, up sharply from the number 25 announced the day before. Greenfield also announced pandemic-related deaths on April 2.
“Death has, unfortunately, come to Greenfield’s door as the result of this,” Greenfield Mayor Roxann Wedegartner said at a press briefing Friday afternoon. “My heart goes out to all who have been affected. It’s important to remember that each of these numbers has a person attached to it.”
The rise in local cases comes as Governor Baker and other health officials carefully predict the peak of the outbreak to fall in mid-April in Massachusetts. While the elderly and those with underlying conditions are the most vulnerable, everyone should be careful and proactive social distancing guidelines and hand washing guidelines.
