GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, State Police Detectives and Greenfield Police with the Northwestern District Attorney’s Anti-Crime Task Force this month made two drug- and weapons-related arrests while conducting street-level enforcement operations.

One incident occurred on June 11th, when police arrested Christopher Gonyea, 34, of Ashfield on drug charges including possession of a Class A substance (Heroin/Fentanyl); possession of a Class B substance (cocaine); and possession of a Class E substance after a traffic stop on Bernardston Road in Greenfield at 10:30 p.m.

Following his arraignment and release, Gonyea is due back in court for a pretrial conference on August 21st. 

The Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force includes 18 investigators from 16 law enforcement agencies: the State Police Detective Unit, the Hampshire and Franklin County Sheriff’s Offices, and police departments in Athol, Belchertown, Bernardston, Deerfield, Easthampton, Erving, Greenfield, Hadley, Montague, Northampton, Northfield, Orange, and South Hadley. Working with specially-assigned Assistant District Attorneys, the task force identifies, investigates, and prosecutes illegal narcotics offenses, unlawful firearms offenses, gang-related crimes, human trafficking, and other organized criminal activities. It also conducts street-level enforcement operations to improve the safety and quality of life in local communities.
