GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Only a few families are left to find more permanent housing solutions as the Days Inn shelter in Greenfield prepares to close.

The Healey Administration announced the phasing out of motel and hotel shelters in November and in January Days Inn announced they would be closing after operating as an emergency shelter since May of 2023.

The 45 original families, predominately Haitian, that were placed at Days Inn in 2023 have all found housing, largely within Franklin County. Approximately 66 families took shelter at Days Inn and about five are remaining to find housing before Friday’s closure.
