(DEERFIELD, MA) — The town of Deerfield has adopted an innovative “Green Infrastructure and Climate Resiliency Policy”. Deerfield is the first community in the state to adopt such a policy, the goals of which are to promote the use of green street facilities and green infrastructure in public and private development, and to promote climate resiliency in public buildings and in private development.
Deerfield Selectboard member Trevor McDaniel said, “Deerfield is already at work on numerous projects to implement this policy, including designing and constructing green streets in the town center, green parking lots at Frontier Regional School and the town center, and rainwater harvesting and rain gardens at schools”.
