(Deerfield, MA) Deerfield Fire Department’s Assistant Chief Kenneth “Chip” Williams has decided to step back from his role as Assistant Chief in order to spend more time with his family. He has served the Fire Department and community for 25 years, the last five of which he has spent as the Assistant Chief. He is not saying goodbye to the department though as he will be taking on the role of firefighter.

The Deerfield Fire Department released a statement they are “deeply grateful” to “still be able to work and learn from him” in his “semi retirement.”

Of his years of service the department said “Chip faithfully served the department, the town, and its community…with his cool head, calm demeanor and vast knowledge of firefighting and pump operations many of us have learned valuable lessons from him over the years.”
