(Deerfield, MA) — A number of Franklin County towns have issued mandates requiring people to wear masks in public buildings–but not the town of Deerfield. The Deerfield Selectboard this week decided against issuing the mask mandate, preferring instead to monitor the situation. A total of eight new COVID cases have been reported in the past two weeks, in a town where 76 percent of residents have been vaccinated. The neighboring towns of Conway, Sunderland and Whately have also voted to require mask wearing in public town buildings.
