(Deerfield, MA) — Correcting a chronic flooding problem along Deerfield’s Routes 5 and 10 is not as simple as just unclogging some drains. State and local officials met Monday along the stretch of road which has been plagued by flooding problems during this past July’s heavy rains. Among the concerns raised at the meeting were legislative, environmental and logistical roadblocks which have prevented repairs on the roads drainage system, which abuts both private and environmentally sensitive properties. Legislative leaders have promised to work with officials on Beacon Hill to try to clear some of those logistical hurdles.
