GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield Historical Commission will be continuing their discussion on the demolition of the Zion Korean Church building in January’s meeting after confirming that the structure holds historical significance at their meeting Thursday.

A concern of the commissioners was that the church is a contributing structure in the historical district, the removal of which could result in the district being at risk for losing its historical status.

Representatives from the new owners of the property and neighbor, the Franklin County YMCA, were in attendance and shared that they have made no commitment to demolishing the building, although they are making efforts to remove asbestos from the structure.
