(Millers Falls, MA)  — Cleanup continues today from weekend flooding which forced evacuation of a number of residents of downtown Millers Falls. The Turners Falls Fire Department says a stream above the village was flooded by Saturday night’s rains and sent a cascade of water through the downtown area, flooding basements and forcing the temporary evacuation of several residents. Power to the area was cut for several hours as firefighters pumped out flood waters and secured the area. No injuries were reported, but at least two businesses in the area were forced to shut down for the day. A sinkhole on Newton Road has resulted in at least one property being declared structurally unsafe.
