GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Recent rainfall has sparked conversation around the current drought status in the region.
The state has received less than average rainfall since 2024, leading to lower water levels in the underground water system, which will take more water than the recent rainfall to come back to normal.
The City of Greenfield and the Town of Athol have water use restrictions in place.
