(Greenfield, MA) — The transfer of Dillon Chevrolet in Greenfield to the McGovern Auto Group of Westborough, which operates 15 car dealerships in the Boston area, southern New Hampshire and Long Island, New York, is official.
“We are looking forward to coming to Greenfield,” McGovern Auto Group CEO Matt McGovern said. “This dealership has a long tradition of excellence and we hope to continue that.”
“We are certainly happy to have Matt and his team come in,” Dillon Spokesman Jay Dillon said. “They are going to do a great job for the community.”
Commissioners questioned whether McGovern would be as committed to community endeavors as the Dillon’s have been for so many years. McGovern says the group plans to be very active in the community, but did not elaborate further.
The new dealership will go by the name “McGovern Chevrolet of Greenfield.” Terms of the sale have not been disclosed. The sale and license transfer went into effect on Wednesday, after it was approved by General Motors.
Dillon Chevrolet operated on Main Street in downtown Greenfield for 60 years.
