ERVING, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Erving officials are awaiting word from MassDevelopment on a plan for partial demolition of the International Paper Mill. Town Administrator Bryan Smith says MassDevelopment had some questions about the plan before the grant money is released. Scott Bastarache of the Selectboard explained that he wants the town to stay ahead of the process.
“The concern is if it does not go favorably, based on the application we put in (with MassDevelopment) and the information we provided,” said Bastarache. “I would like to ask them for feedback on what would allow us to do that, what would allow it to move forward, and what were the sticking points that held it up.
Town officials said they want to have an alternate plan at the ready, especially if a developer showed interest in the property.
