ERVING, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) –Erving Town Meeting voters have approved a plan for an affordable housing project on Care Drive. The town had secured a $15.6 million proposal from Rural Development for affordable housing units, including senior housing.

Town Administrator Bryan Smith says the project will dovetail nicely with other new facilities in that part of town.

“We think of this sort of like a campus,” said Smith. “You’ve got this beautiful elementary school connected to the Senior Center and the new public library from 2020. To be able to have nice, walkable, safe and close by amenities, I think voters have made very strategic investments to make that happen.”

Town Meeting voted down pay raises for the tax collector, clerk, and treasurer. That article needed a two-thirds majority to pass.
