(Greenfield, MA) Some residents of the Arbors in Greenfield had a difficult end to 2020 when a sprinkler pipe burst in the facility. Greenfield Fire Chief Robert Strahan said the department was called to the Arbors around midnight on December 31 when a sprinkler pipe burst and caused extensive damage to parts of the first and second floors of the facility, including the kitchen.
No injuries were reported, and fire fighters and staff worked to keep the residents of the facility safe and relocate them to unaffected areas. Strahan said fire fighters were able to isolate the water quickly.
Mutual aid from Deerfield and Turners Falls Fire Departments was received and Bernardston Fire Department covered the City of Greenfield during the incident. Northfield, AMR, and South County all provided ambulances as a precaution.
