(undated) — Drivers should expect to see some extra traffic along the Mohawk Trail beginning this weekend. Columbus Day Weekend is traditionally the kickoff of fall foliage season in Western Massachusetts. It’s also a weekend which this year will feature programs celebrating “Indigenous People’s Day” in a number of communities statewide which have chosen to replace Columbus Day with the new distinction honoring Native Americans and their plight.
