(Athol, MA) Massachusetts State Police are reporting that there was a fatal car crash on Route 2 in Athol last night. The accident was a head-on collision. The operator of one of the vehicles was reported have died at the scene. The operator of the other was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Route 2 was closed in both directions for hours last night. The crash is still under investigation.
