SHELBURNE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The final of three listening sessions for the Woodlands Partnership municipal emergency response services study will be held this evening at 6 p.m. in the Shelburne Fire Department building and via Zoom.
The public safety study is intended to provide towns with direction and support in receiving additional funds and identifying strategies for municipal financial sustainability.
The Woodlands Partnership of Northwest Massachusetts is conducting the public safety services study, including 21 towns, with the Edward J. Collins, Jr. Center for Public Management at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
The study covers municipal services in the Woodlands Partnership region as they relate to increasing tourism, use and accessibility of public forests, diminished tax base, and the ability of first responders to provide emergency services.
Funding for the study comes from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
