ASHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The town of Ashfield has been working to address the invasive plant, fanwort, on Ashfield Lake for more than a year now.
Previous discussions on treatment included a mechanical harvester and multiple herbicide treatments, both costing several tens of thousands of dollars. The Selectboard opted in August to survey the species and return for discussions on treatment.
On February 13th from 7 to 9 p.m., a public meeting will be held at Ashfield Town Hall to discuss options with Dan Buttrick and Lucas Acaba from Tighe & Bond Engineers. The snow date for the discussion is February 20th.
