EASTHAMPTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — State Fire Marshal Jon Davine was in Easthampton Wednesday to raise awareness for the wave of smoke alarms reaching their end of life.

In 2015, a change to state fire code brought in a new, sealed 10-year battery to smoke alarms which are now reaching the end of their reliable use.

With concern that a wave of smoke alarms will become unreliable in the coming months for homes across Massachusetts, Fire Marshal Davine is reminding residents to replace their sealed-battery alarms once they reach their end-of-life.
