(GREENFIELD) — Local authorities are reminding residents that fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts. Area police departments have received numerous reports of fireworks being set off. Traditionally, cities and towns hold fireworks displays in conjunction with Independence Day, but such events were canceled this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That did not stop some from having their own displays, but these have persisted in the weeks following the Fourth of July.
The Northwest District Attorney’s Office reminds Bay State residents that all fireworks are illegal, including Class C fireworks, such as sparklers, party poppers, snappers, firecrackers, spinners, and cherry bombs.
It is also illegal to transport fireworks into Massachusetts, even if they were purchased legally in another state.
